About Us
Our Mission
At Grunts With Halos, Inc., our mission is to empower and support veterans and their families by providing comprehensive resources, compassionate care, and a strong community network. We are dedicated to honoring the sacrifices of our heroes by fostering resilience, promoting well-being, and facilitating successful transitions to civilian life. Through advocacy, education, and outreach, we strive to create a world where every veteran feels valued, supported, and equipped to thrive. We assist veterans in filing for their benefits, benefits for family members, and assist veterans and family members with end-of-life benefits all at no cost to them. No member of our organization takes a salary, and all our operations are funded through donation only.

As part of our commitment, we offer offshore fishing trips and local fishing tournament participation at no charge for disabled veterans and their families, providing them with unique opportunities to relax, bond, and create lasting memories. These trips are designed to offer therapeutic experiences and a sense of adventure, reinforcing our dedication to enhancing the quality of life for those who have served.
Our Story
We started as a few Marines who have had our own personal share of disabilities and fighting for our own benefits. In April of 2020, we decided to incorporate and become a registered 501 (c) 3 so we could help as many veterans and their families that we could reach. What makes us different than most charities doing the same work is that don't have the heart to charge disabled military veterans for the benefits they already earned with their sacrifice to the United States.
We don't take a commission. We don't take a salary. We will never ask a veteran to pay us a cent for what we do.
The purpose of a charity is to give without expecting anything in return. It's how we live our lives, and it's how we are able to sleep at night, knowing the nightmares we have already faced. If we are able to take away some of our fellow warfighter's pain, then we have served our purpose, and that purpose is always greater than ourselves.
Meet The Team
President
Todd Starkey is one of the founders of our organization, and is the primary person who works with veterans at their homes or over the phone. He is a disabled Marine Corps Desert Storm veteran, and has the experience of working over 30 years on VA claims and benefits, including his own claims. He was a participant in the VA Chapter 31 program and received his degree in Financial Analysis from LSU Shreveport in 2023.
Staff
We have dedicated staff of unpaid volunteers that work relentlessly behind the scenes to make us operational. From our social media team to our phone support staff, we would not be here for their continuous dedication and effort to help us in our mission.
